Football weekend against hunger to be held in Europe
Over 200 professional football clubs, 100 stadiums and millions of football fans will be involved in the first-ever Europe-wide football weekend against hunger to be held from 20 to 22 March, FAO sources say.
According to the FAO, funds generated out of the anti-hunger football will be directed towards anti-hunger micro-projects around the world.
World reports have indicated an estimated population of 963 million people currently suffering from food scarcity and malnutrition.
Informal opinions exist that more people are likely to suffer from hunger due to the global financial crisis.
The wider gulf between the haves and the have-nots has mocked at the traditional democracies.
