Faith In God Reduces Anxiety, Says Neuroscientists

Believers in God are less anxious than the non believers as stated in a new study and scientific survey , investigation
A team led by Michael Inzlzt, a neuro scientist tested fifty University students of diverse religious and cultural background. Christians were more in number compared to other religions like Hinduism,Muslim and Buddhist. They also tested atheists.
Generally people with anxiety show high activity in a small brain area called the anterior cingulate cortex (ACC). Drugs to curb anxiety problem calm brain activity in ACC.Michel said that religion, and perhaps other strongly held belief systems, buffer against second-guessing decisions.

It was found out that people who have a strong religious faith show less activity in ACC. But people with less or no religious faith have a more anxiety problem. This study is applicable in the case of psychiatric patients. Because anxiety is a psychiatric disorder.

The study was published in Journal of Psychological Science. For detail
