HEALTH EFFECTS OF ALCOHOL ADDICTION

Alcohol addiction is another serious health issue all over world. Due to stress , peer pressure etc people become addicted to Alcohol . Alcohol has several ill effects on health . Some of these are .

1) Alcohol kills hunger .

2) Destroys liver & causes Cirrhosis in long run.

3) Interferes with the absorption & utilization of nutrients .

4) Increases blood TG & Cholesterol levels leading to HT , CHD & other heart related problems .

5) Alcohol lowers LES pressure which causes regurgitation of gastric contents leading to Esophagitis .

6) Alcohol & it's metabolites damages brain cells .

7) Alcohol intake during pregnancy can lead to still birth & causes lot of complication during delivery .

8) Alcohol intake increases the risk of Gouty Arthritis .

9) Increases the risk of cancer in the liver, pancreas, rectum, breast, mouth, pharynx, larynx and esophagus

10 ) Lowers blood glucose, especially for people with diabetes.

11) Causes depression, anxiety and insomnia

12) Increase risk of road accidents

13) Excessive intake of alcohol also increases cortisol levels leading to Adrenal Diabetes .
