J&K medicinal plant board launches campaign on Amla cultivation



 


Jammu February 10(Scoop News) – The J&K State Medicinal plants Board Directorate of Indian Systems of Medicine has launched a campaign on promotion of usages and cultivation of Amla across the state. The campaign is a part of the project “National Campaign on Amla” sanctioned by Department of AYUSH Ministry of Health & FW Government of India. The campaign is aimed to promote the health benefits and mass cultivation of Amla, so as to boost the economics of growers etc and preserve the indigenous system of medicine.


The depart has established two nurseries of Amla in collaboration with Department of Horticulture and State Forest Research Institute Jammu that will serve as a quality planting source for free distribution among the farmers from Jammu region. With the help of technical persons from Department of Horticulture and State Forest Research Institute the J&K State Medicinal Plants Board has trained 30 AYUSH doctors across the state about the cultivation practices of Amla.


Under a part of this campaign, J&K State Medicinal Plants Board has started campaign for promoting the health benefits and cultivation of Amla in the educational institutions across the state. The Board in its aim to promote mass cultivation of Amla has started training farmers/growers through community awareness meetings involving Anganwadi Centres of the areas.
