Hemorrhoids or Piles are amongst the most common diseases today, and many people suffer from it especially in the western world. They are sore and inflamed condition of the veins inside or outside the rectum.
There are three types of piles namely External, Internal and Bleeding piles. In external piles there is severe pain and not much bleeding. Internal Piles are characterized by the discharge of dark blood. Bleeding piles occur due to the bursting of rectal veins.
The main symptoms of hemorrhoids are pain at passing stools, frequent bleeding, itching, burning and soreness after passing stools. Constipation is the key feature of all kinds of piles.
The main cause of hemorrhoids is constipation and other liver and digestive disorders. When bowels are constipated, pressure is applied to pass the stools which cause congestion of rectal veins and this leads to piles. Excessive use of purgatives and laxatives irritate the rectal lining and result in the inflammation and enlargement of veins and disturb the mucus lining. Hemorrhoids are most common during pregnancy and problems of upper bowel and liver.
Mental tension is also one of the principal causes of piles. Due to this the bowels are not emptied properly without spending proper time in the toilet. The pressure exerted on the rectal veins due to straining also lead to piles. Heredity factor also play a major role in the development of piles.
Natural remedies for hemorrhoids: The treatment of hemorrhoids should first commence with removing the basic cause of piles namely constipation. The intestines should be properly and thoroughly cleansed and the digestive system should be given complete rest for a few days. A simple diet consisting of fruits should be adopted by the patient for at least one week. After that the patient may adopt a natural foods diet for ensuring soft stools.
Dry figs work as a very good remedy for piles. Two to four figs should be soaked in water overnight after cleansing them thoroughly. After getting up early in the morning firstly they should be taken along with the water in which they were soaked. They can even be taken in the evening in the same manner. This remedy should be administered for two to four weeks. Figs contain tiny seeds which have an excellent effect of stimulating the movement of intestines.
