India: Two Million Research Labs Shut Down by Government

The owners of privately-owned pathological laboratories in India's western province of Gujarat have reacted angrily to their provincial government's decision in April to begin shutting all but a handful down.
3,000,000 or more privately-run pathology laboratries operate under lax government regulation in India today. Only a small percentage are believed to be properly staffed and inspected. Seventy labs have attained government aceditation so far.
