Hospital Point Lighthouse, at Beverly, Massachusetts guards the shipping entrance to both Salem and Beverly harbors through Salem Sound. And while it now signals the channel path electrically, it magnifies its light through one of only four remaining 19th century fresnel lenses in the US. Besides the beauty of its structure and location, the lighthouse is a rare piece of American Maritime History.
The Nideo news team was given a guided tour of the facility, including a remnant revolutionary era fort, when the Coastguard handed to its volunteer auxiliary body the responsibility for giving the public greater access. See video - above or directly to Youtube.
