Kudumbashree to Implement Rs 191-Crore Projects



Kudumbhashree, Kerala's networking of women's self-help group, will be implementing Rs 191 crore work micro-level vegetable and fruit cultivation and marketing projects as part of its decennial this year.

As part of the project, 2.5 lakh fruit and vegetable plants and saplings would be distributed to the neighbourhood networks boasting a total membership of 3.6 million families spread around 14 districts, state Local Administration Minister Paloli Muhammadkutty told a press meet.

A special scheme called 'samagra' had been drawn up to implement the projects creating a strong cultivation and marketing base with the help of various departments and civic bodies.Besides, schemes to boost production of milk, egg and meat would also be part of the venture.

Plans to strengthen Kudumbashree by involving greater participation of marginalised and deprived sections like tribals would also be carried out.

Also, a special scheme called "ashraya' targetting the poorest of the poor had also been launched.

Kudumbshree was launched in 1998, under the Poverty Eradication Mission
