11 persons selected for J&K state awards

Jammu, January 25 (Scoop News) –J&K Government has selected 11 persons for grant of State Awards on Republic Day-2011 in recognition of their contribution in different fields.

Syed Rasool Pompur (Kashmiri/Urdu/English Writer & Poet), Mishal Sultanpuri (Kashmiri Poet & writer) and Mr Wali Mohammad Batt (Kashmiri/Urdu/English Writer & Historian) have been selected for achievements in the field of literature. They will be given cash award of Rs. 51, 000/- , a shawl worth Rs. 10, 000/- and a citation.

Km. Krishna Kumari, (Traditional Folk Artist) has been selected for performing arts. The cash award of Rs. 51, 000/-, a medal and a citation will be given to her.

Abhay Rustum Sopori, (Santoor Maestro & Music Composer), has been awarded for excellence in arts and crafts. The cash award of Rs. 51, 000/-, a medal and a citation will be given to him.

Dhruv Lakra, (CEO, Mirakle Couriers) has been selected for social reforms and empowerment. He will get cash award of Rs. 51, 000/-, a medal and a citation.

Kuldeep Handoo, S/o Jawahar Lal Handoo (Wushu) has been awarded for outstanding sports persons. He will be given cash award of Rs. 51, 000/-, a medal and a citation.

Mohammad Saleem Pandit, (Principal Correspondent, Kashmir, The Times of India) and M. K. Bangroo, S/o Late S. L. Bangroo, (Journalist) have been awarded for outstanding Media persons. They will be given cash award of Rs. 51, 000/-, a medal and a citation certificate.

Dr. Ghanshyam Dev Gupta, Prof. & HOD Radio Diagnosis & Imaging, Government Medical College, Jammu and Jigmet Takpa, IFS, Conservator of Forests (Wild Lift), Ladakh/ Project Director, LREDA, Leh have been awarded for meritorious public services. They will be given cash award of Rs. 51, 000/-, a medal and a citation certificate to each awardees.
