Action Plan being formulated to recreate Dastgeer Sb(RA) shrine: Rather



Anantnag/Srinagar, June 28 (Scoop News) –Reiterating that the government fully shares the grief and mourning of the people over the unbearable loss caused due to gutting of revered shrine of Peer Dastgeer, Sheikh Abdul Qadir Jeelani (RA), the Minister for Finance and Ladakh Affairs,  Abdul Rahim Rather today said a time bound Action Plan is being prepared to recreate the shrine according to its original design and architecture. The Plan will be finalized in consultation with the all stake holders and the Sajada Nisheen of the shrine.


            “Luckily the digital videography of the entire shrine complex and its interiors, conducted by the Tourism Department a couple of years ago, is with us which will facilitate to recreate the shrine of Peer Dastgeer Sahib (RA) according to its original design,”,  Rather said while addressing a public gathering after laying foundation stone of Rs. 30 lakhs Treasury Building at Shangus in district Anantnag today. The shrine complex will be a marvel of Islamic architecture, he added.


            He said an Action Plan is also being formulated to ensure safety and preservation of other shrines and historical buildings in the state. He said the decision in this regard was taken in a high level meeting chaired by Chief Minister,  Omar Abdullah yesterday.


             Rather while calling for restrain and calm at this hour of grief and tragedy, expressed satisfaction that by the grace of God all the sacred Tabarkat in the shrine are safe and were displayed before the public and media by the Sajada Nisheen of the Shrine yesterday.


            Reaffirming that the present government is endeavoring to serve the people as per their urges and aspirations,  Rather said equitable justice and uniform development of all the regions, irrespective of political considerations, was its main agenda adding that there shall be no disparity with any area in this regard.


             Rather said that with a view to providing better facilities to the people at their doorsteps, it has been decided to provide government accommodation to all the government treasuries in the state in a phased manner adding that construction of treasury complex at Shangus is a sequel to this effect. The construction of the treasury building will be completed within three months, he added.


            Referring to the demands of the people,  Rather said that ATM facility in Shangus will be provided at an earliest.


The charter of demands presented by the people included establishment of a Government Women’s Degree College, construction of revenue complex, development of Chatabal as tourist spot and improvement of road connectivity in the area.


 MLA, Shangus, Peerzada Mansoor Hussain also spoke on the occasion and said that work on 22-kms Achabal- Shangus-Chatabal  road will be started shortly which will help to boost tourism activities in the area. He said a revenue complex is also being planned to be constructed in Shangus to house various departments under one roof. He demanded construction of walling and fencing over about 200 kanals of state land in the village to protect it for future development. He said work on Government Boys Degree College will also be started shortly. He said work on Rs. 12 crore Regional Water Supply Scheme, Shangus will also start shortly.


The District Development Commissioner, Anantnag,  Farooq Ahmed Shah, Director General Accounts and Treasuries,  Wali Mohammad Bhat, Joint Director Accounts and Treasuries,  Altaf Hussain, Ex-legislator,  Abdul Majid Mir and concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
