Div Com inspects progress of water transport



 


Srinagar, January 24 (Scoop News) –Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon, reviewed the progress of the water transport on river Jhelum.


The meeting was attended by Director Tourism Kashmir, Farooq Ahmed Shah, Chief Engineer, Irrigation Flood Control, Ahmed Muzaffar Lanker, Chief Engineer EM&RE, Kashmir Muzaffar Mattu, Director SDA, Abdul Rauf Deva, Joint Commissioner (Works) SMC, AM Raina, Superintending Engineer, LAWDA, Superintending Engineer, PHE and other senior officers. Div Com directed Chief engineer IFC to outsource the facilities including the procurement of vessel. He directed CE to prepare the zero draft for expression of interest by private parties and get it vetted by the legal expert, by or before 10th February.


 


He directed that the water transport should be in place by 13th April corresponding to Baisakhi. Div Com directed that the encroachments on the river Jhelum embankments should be removed. He directed C.E. EM&RE to prepare estimates for shifting of overhead HT and LT lines. He asked Director Tourism and LAWDA to deploy their motor boats in River Jhelum so that the water transport system can be started in April from Sonawar upto Chattabal wier. He also asked all the concerned departments that they should start commercial activities through water transport. He even encouraged officers to use the water transport for going to their offices. He directed that the parks along the banks should be developed and outsourced for maintenance.


          Div Com along with officers visited Abdullah bridge, as well  and inspected the progress of dredging on river Jhelum. He interacted with the workers and asked them to work with dedication and zeal.


           Meanwhile Dr. Asgar Hassan Samoon held a video conference with all Deputy Commissioners and reviewed the stock position, as well as the progress of disbursement of funds under State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF).


 


The video conference was attended by Additional Commissioner Kashmir Abdul Majid Mir, Director CAPD Mushtaq Ahmed Mir, FCI Area Manager, Rajesh Kumar and AC Central Tasaduq Hussain Mir. Div Com released Rs 73 lakhs in favour of the DCs to meet damages due to snowfall. He released Rs 20 lakhs each in favour of DC Bandipora and Kulgam whileas, Rs 10 lakhs each for Pulwama, Anantnag, Kupwara and Rs 3 lakhs for Ganderbal. He directed the other concerned DCs to scrutinise the claims of the damages due to snowfall and furnish report so that funds could be released.
