Green March rally at Nehru Park in Srinagar



Srinagar, June 04 (Scoop News) – The Department of Environment and Remote Sensing today organized a Green March from Nehru Park to Grand Palace crossing to create environmental awareness and to generate momentum among the general public about the importance of World Environment Day to be celebrated on June 05, 2012.


The rally comprising of school children, teachers, youth and conservation conscious citizens was flagged off by Commissioner/Secretary Forest  Umag Narulla at Nehru Park today. About 250 students of 10 schools participated in eco-march.


The participants carried banners and ply-cards highlighting environmental issues and challenges facing the State.


. Among others the rally was attended by Principal Chief Conservator of Forest,  Vinod Ranjan and other senior officers include Director SFRI Jammu and Kashmir  Deepak Khanna, Director Environment Ecology and Remote Sensing  Deepak Khanna, Secretary State Pollution Control Board, Arun Kumar Tiku, Member Regional Director, Wildlife Department Kashmir  Manzoor Ahmed Tak and other concerned officers.
