HM Divisional Commander killed in encounter in Ramban

 Jammu, May 26 (Scoop News) –     The Rashtriya Rifles under Counter Insurgency Force (Uniform) and the police killed a terrorist Gulam Qadir Malik @ Tohid-ul-Islam, the self-styled Divisional Commander of the Chenab Division of Hizbul Mujahideen in an encounter in the Gul Area of Ramban district. The terrorist had been active in the area since the past few years and had been involved in a number of anti national activities.

       According to defense spokesman that an  operation was launched jointly on the night of 25th and 26th of May 2012, by the Army and the Police based on specific information about the presence of the terrorist in the area of Asthanmarg near Gul of Ramban district. One AK-56 Rifle, three AK magazines and 54 rounds of AK ammunition was recovered from the killed terrorist during the operation.

          The terrorist was a local terrorist belonging to the area of Asthanmarg 10 Kms North of Gul in the Ramban District. The killing of the terrorist has resulted in a major set-back to the Hizbul Mujahideen Tanzeem operating in the Ramban district. With this operation the Army has served another severe blow to terrorism in the state of J & K and has further contributed to restoration of normalcy in the area.
