LeT Commander apprehended in Kishtwar,Huge Cache recovered
Police said that Kishtwar Police and Army launched massive search operation in the general area of Patnazi on the base of confirmed intelligence input regarding presence of the terrorist.
During the conduct of the search operation, the security forces noticed the movement of an individual under suspicious circumstances. On being challenged, the individual tried to escape but was overpowered and apprehended. The captured terrorist named Mohammed Shafi Shah @ Pathan @ Idrees age 35/36 yrs S/O Mohd Yaqoob Shah R/O Ashmugam, Phalgam, Anantnag Kashmir in the area of Chukron, Patnazi was found in possession of AK 56 Rifle, three AK magazines with 90 rounds of ammunition and one radio set. The militant was also in possession of one SIM Card of Pakistan origin and 03 other SIMs and one mobile phone.
According to Police the relentless and perseverant efforts of the Police and Security Forces in the Thathri-Bonjwah area has led to major successes and complete annihilation of the LeT Tanzeem. LeT cadres who used to roam with impunity terrorizing the local populace have been completely marginalized and purged. The District Commander of LeT Ishaq Bhat @ Ateeq, whose frightening writ used to run large amongst the local populace, was also eliminated in a well-coordinated operation by the Kishtwar Police and Army.
Police said that the major success has truly broken the back of the LeT as the group is batting the increased and relentless pressure by the Kishtwar Police and Security Forces coupled with paucity of Arms and Ammunition. It is pertinent to note here that the local population has repeatedly and overwhelmingly turned out support the security forces. This positive change in the collective mindset and thinking of the locals has been brought forth by the realization that terrorism in the region is indeed a lost cause.
Meanwhile Police and Security forces destroyed two separate hide outs of terrorists one in village Kangota and another one at Dalyote forest area of Budhal and Kalakote respectively of district Rajouri today.
Recoveries made from hideouts include 02 AK Magazines with 60 rounds, 30 rounds of Pika ammunition ,one Chinese Grenade, one Pouch, one torch ,Antenna of wireless set ,one Chinese Pistol,with 08 rounds, 02 Anti Mine, one SIM card ,one Mobile battery,10 Pencil cells, one Pitho ,one pouch,one Pen drive ,one shelling of AK , dry fruits ,cooked food and some medicine Pak made.
Reports revealed that State Police carried out searches in village Kangota under the jurisdiction of PS Budhal and at Dalyote forest area under the jurisdiction of PS Kalakote in association with 63 RR after developing information about the hideout of terrorists. The suspected area was cordoned off and during the search troops noticed natural hideout of terrorists which were smashed. A search operation was also conducted in the area but no arrests have been made so far.
