Microsoft to follow an Independent Strategy

Addressing a News Conference in Tokyo, Bill Gates told the reporters that from now on wards Microsoft would follow an independent strategy in its efforts to secure a place in the fiercely competitive search engine and aniline advertisement segments.

Having not succeeded in its takeover bid of Yahoo at a price tag of 47.5 Billion Dollars, according to him, Microsoft had decided that the two should pursue independent paths. He however did not rule out alternative partnership proposals after the failure to bid for Yahoo.

Microsoft at present is trailing behind Google in the on line search and advertising markets. Instead of following a time consuming strategy of developing the market, it took to the route of attempting to take over Yahoo which would give it the advantage in competing with Google, but, its attempts were throttled by yahoo's Chief Executive Officer, who had wanted a stiff price of about 54 Billion Dollars as against the 47.5 Billion Dollars offered by it. As Microsoft was unwilling to up its bid, the deal fell through.

Now that the deal is off, Bill Gates says that Microsoft is determined to make 'advances' in its own search offering and meetings are in Seattle to hammer out specific plans.

One can expect more fireworks from Microsoft in the near future.
