Rs 296 crore project for conservation of historical Mubarak Mandi palace



           Jammu, December 06 (Scoop News) - Minister for Tourism and Culture, Nawang Rigzin Jora has said that conservation and restoration of Mubarak Mandi heritage palace is on the priority list of the Government. He said a comprehensive project plan of Rs 296 crore have been formulated by the State Government through INTACH reputed consultancy of the country.


            This was stated by the Minister while taking stock of pace of restoration works of the palace here today.


              Jora said that Centre has approved a grant of Rs 50 crore under 13th Finance Commission for restoring of old glory of Raja Amar Singh Palace, Dogra Art Museum, Royal Court and Gadvai Khana, besides Mahal of Raja Ram Singh ‘s queens, adding that in this regard a project have been formulated and submitted to the Centre for release of funds. He said the restoration works of these palaces would be taken up soon after receiving funds from the Centre.


            The Minister said that under mega project scheme a project report of Rs 25.42 crore have been also submitted to the Centre for conservation and restoration of works of Raja Ram Singh Palace, Darbar hall, Central Courtyard and Zanana Courtyard.


            Taking stock of ongoing restoration work of High Court Complex of the Palace carried out through Archological Survey of India at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore, the Minister was informed that restoration work of the complex would be completed by the end of current financial year.


            The Minister went round to each complex of the palace, took stock of various restoration works and issued on the spot instructions to the concerned authorities for speedy completion of the works by involving more renowned and reputed artisans on the job.


            Director General Archology and Museum,  Sanam Gilson, Director Tourism,  R. K. Verma, Executed Director, Mubarak Mandi Heritage Society were accompanied the Minister.
