The Web is not Your Memory
A study hit the news recently relating the impact of the web on the memory. The study showed how dependent the memory is becoming on the web these days; the memory understands how much of required and reachable information the web posses. This era as named is the information age and the hub of information is the web. The web has become everything relating to broad or narrow findings.
Something about anything can be found on the internet with old, new and relevant information uploaded daily. It is easier to use web services for findings to get desired results, making the internet boost learning and acculturation.
From studies of how the memory works, parts of most information encountered are stored; some intricate details are left to notes, computer storage or the wider storage, the web. The web does not serve as our memory, it is a ‘store’ that contains details of something we know or we don’t.
We get information out of the web to stay in our memory, information available from reliable sources on the web are mostly updated which is some advantage over a book made the previous year shelved in a library.
Information are uploaded to the web, these information have a source, the memory; to have and savvy certain subjects can lead to lines of verified and affirmed report to become ‘information’ when uploaded and available on the web. This makes the web a collective memory of people usable by any individual or group that seek information from it.
People harness the power of the internet as relevant to them, available web tools like weblogs, tags and websites help to upload information and assign keywords to make others easily access these information.
With all kinds of information and services on the web, controls may be advised. Control in use of the web is a broad advise not on a good side, but controls in some web services that are dispensable is necessary. Web services that drain your time and of diminutive value to you and your interests require control.
Information is so necessary in these times, with information cogitation in a new direction towards solutions and advancement can be propped. With the web, information is sought, with some level of understanding, some details stick to your memory so before the web becomes the next call at any instant, you have answers and can infer in direction of that information.
