UIU Open Source Network launched

Daylong workshop on Ubuntu and Joomla marked the inaugural ceremony of the United International University Open Source Network (UIU OSN). The programme was held on the university campus on 30th October.

In the morning, a demonstration and question answer based orientation was held on the desktop Linux distribution Ubuntu. Mr Fahim Islam and Mr Nasir Khan Saikat acted as the instructors at the session. In the second session, a hands on training on the CMS- Joomla was held. Mr Jabed Morshed and Mr Arafater Rahman Shibu conducted the session as the facilitator. Later a certificate awarding ceremony was arranged at Room No 206 of the university. Dr Sarwar, Head, CSE, UIU presided over the ceremony. The ceremony was addressed by Mr. Munir Hasan of BdOSN and Professor Dr Chowdhury Mofizur Rahman, Pro Vice Chancellor, UIU. A mailing list for the local OSN, uiuosn@googlegroups.com was also launched.
