Climate Change Alarmism Is a Mental Disease

When I read the news yesterday, I was so disgusted and angry that I might have started drinking before 11AM, had I at that moment had anything to drink in the house. But I didn’t.

I read:

[i]Journalists at The Age yesterday condemned management for undermining the Melbourne newspaper's editorial independence, claiming reporters were pressured not to write negative stories about Earth Hour.

Earth Hour was another one of those bone-headed, facile attempts to create a feeling of importance about something by getting people to partake in a superficial, meaningless ritual—you know, like somebody sitting in a slovenly and tacky rendition of a Native American sweat lodge for about a half hour, one time in their lives, and going on thinking they hade some deep spiritual experience.

This is only the latest in a long tail of the brain-dead global warming cultists’ insanity, the plague that resists all science that is spreading through the mass media like some alien pathogen without a cure in some B sci-fi flick.

After the BBC featured a story on April 4th in which it faithfully reported that United Nations meteorologists have declared that 2008 is going to be colder than 2007 because of the La Nina current activity in the Pacific Ocean, a climate change alarmist activist named Jo Abbess of the United Kingdom’s Campaign Against Climate Change was disturbed by the BBC’s apparently too-balanced, too-fair reporting.

Abbess took issue with the BBC’s journalist Roger Harriban, whose very factual reporting included summation:

This would mean global temperatures have not risen since 1998, prompting some to question climate change theory.

By April 6th, 2008, that statement had been suddenly and mysteriously altered to read:

But this year's temperatures would still be way above the average -- and we would soon exceed the record year of 1998 because of global warming induced by greenhouse gases.

This writer has previously published a piece on climate change which agrees completely, and even more forcefully, with Harriban’s summation.

But that’s all too much reality for Mr. Abbess, whose religion, and it would seem his livelihood and his whole reputation for having a brain, were all put in jeopardy by the sober and realistic piece of Harriban’s.

In an e-mail exchange, Abbess writes to Harriban and, without any factual basis shown or otherwise anywhere to be found for his bold assertions, insists that Harriban amend his story…which, clearly, Harriban does.

But most telling, and perverse, of all is where Abbess writes to his fellow "Climate Changers":

Remember to challenge any piece of media that seems like it's been subject to spin or scepticism.

That’s right: no skepticism allowed. Intelligence need not apply.

The “Climate Changers” definition of spin seems to be anything that doesn’t agree with their spin. So for them, “spin” is “un-spinning” or “non-spinning”.

War is peace. Freedom is slavery. Ignorance is strength.

WWF is a Eugenics front. There goal is to use environmentalism as a front to depopulate the Earth and what better way than apocalyptic alarmism, fanaticism about global warming ooops 'Climate Change'.

I could not agree more. Even the fact that the earth is, not, actually a greenhouse and differs from one in many ways does not put the cultists off. The fact that not one of their computerised climate models managed to predict that the temperature would peak in 1998, go into stasis and then drop precipitously has not made them lose faith in a rapidly discredited theory. Even the fact that the central mechanism for the greenhouse warming theory, as modelled in their computer climate models, has been shown to be completely wrong according to the latest Aqua satellite data, has not put them off. There is no troposheric heat island building up. The mechanism for water vapour creating continuous warming to a tipping point does not exist in the real world, only in the computer models. This is why there has been global cooling. La Nina has merely added to this normal effect.
