Does Our Spirit Go To Heaven When We Die?
I've been asked many times by people, "Does our spirit go directly to Heaven upon the death of a person," and I'm going to give people some Bible verses to read that I believe holds the answer to this question?"
It is my personal opinion when a person dies, their spirit automatically goes to Heaven to be with the Lord and it will be there in waiting until the resurrection, and when their body is buried in the Earth, it'll return to dust.
In the Bible and in 2 Corinthians 5: 6 - 8, it tells people, "Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, while we are at home in the body, we are absent from the Lord: For we walk by faith, not by sight: We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord."
It also tells us in 1 Corinthians 15: 54, "So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, death is swallowed up in victory."
It also states in 1 Thessalonian 4: 14 - 18, "For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from Heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words."
These verses are vital for people to be aware at the moment of the Rapture, the spirits of the people who have died since the cross will receive new bodies, and those who are living will receive their body. All Christian believers will obtain their resurrection bodies at the same time; and they'll keep those bodies during the time in the New Jerusalem during the Millennium and throughout eternity. There'll be no sickness, no wearing away of the body nor will people age. Our bodies will last forever and ever when we're with Christ.
In 1 Corinthians 15: 51 - 54 this is telling Christians that at the time of the resurrection, all the dead; whether good or bad, are made immortal; and they'll either enter Heaven or they'll suffer eternal torment, being immortal.
People who read the Bible are surprised at what valuable information they'll find to answer many of their questions. Answers that have befuddled them for a lifetime can be found while reading and studing the chapters of the Bible.
I also recommend when and if people have questions about Christian life, they'll take the time to go to the Internet and research their question and then go to the Bible and read the Chapters and verses for themselves to answer their question for themselves.
I enjoy the intricate research to answer my questions through reading and studing the Bible.
