He who draws the sword... Lessons from Madagascar
This giant African Iland is in the news again. The problem once again is about change of government. For those of us who care so much about the image of our continent, this is an embarrassment.
But this is becoming a parttern in Madagascar. When Marc Ravalomanana led a mass action against the then President Didier Ratsirac, he thought it was good because few people criticised him. What he did was bad but he went away with it into power.
He didn't know that he was setting a bad example. Today he now realises that it does not pay to use bad means to good ends as the old tape is now being played to him.
It is time our leaders realise that the thirst for power should not make them forget the examples they leave for posterity.
For those who are now after Ravalo, they should look back and think well about future. He who draws the sword will die by it.
