Killing in the Name of God: A Terrible Trend

A set of recent killings than span half way around the world from each other have a disturbing factor that should be getting the attention of all of us concerned about religion and the immoral society that is young and confused about God.
Bin Laden killed thousands in the name of God. George Bush even used God as a moral compass to get revenge and to cause collateral damage seen by him as a chosen duty that was his to fulfill alone. Men through out history have killed in the name of God because they believed that they were chosen to do Gods work. These killers often leave torn families and a breach in their wake that stirs hatred and more revenge killings. History books are full of such men who they them selves were confused or misled about the cause for God and its ramifications. Killing in the name of God has been the supposed justified answer to killings that are senseless and downright evil. These two cases are no exception.
In Skagit County near Seattle a young man, Isaac Zamora stood in court yesterday to answer for the shooting spree that left 6 dead including the friend of the family police officer and left others wounded.
"I kill for God. I listen to God" he was heard saying twice in the courtroom. His answer and proclamation is a disturbing trend that seems to reach anywhere in the world.
Two weeks ago, a couple was slain by their own children and the boyfriend of their daughter because the boyfriend believed he was the third Son of God. Not only did his twisted religious beliefs and knowledge of the Bible stray from the good into darkness, but also he managed to totally brain wash the children of the couple into believing that the couple was evil. The Durban couple was stabbed and bludgeoned to death by the very children they loved and praised daily. The mother repeatedly told her children that she loved them while they stabbed her to death.
These shocking killings are thorns in the side of the worlds moral compass. The killing of human beings in the name of God is just senseless and sad. The killing of human beings for any reason is terrible, but killing in the name of God is a shame. We need dig deeper and find out why this is happening. This type of violence must stop.
