Obama, a victory for the middle of the road

New York- After Obama's (expected) victory in Iowa, a wave of praise and excitement has washed through the US and the International press. All of a sudden, Obama's victory became a huge surprise and a blow to the Clinton campaign, even though most polls had already put him in the lead there. But beyond this attempt to damage Clinton's campaign (by generating a fake momentum around Obama), many people are overlooking how weak his health care plan is, and to a larger extent his message.

Obama's proposed plan just adds another option for the uninsured while the whole idea is to create an affordable and encompassing plan for ALL Americans. While Clinton and Edwards are proposing a tax that everyone would pay (rich, poor, insured, uninsured, healthy, sick...) to create a plan that everyone could access, and that no Doctor, Hospital, or Drugstore could refuse, Obama is offering one that is paid by those who join it (which already exists-status quo-).

Of course, his plan would not pre-screen those who join but that is minimal compared to the fact that the plan will be under-funded and will not compete with private ones. Because in the end, the whole idea behind Clinton and Edwards' plan is to put private insurance out of business (who is going to join if people are already paying for the public one?), while Obama's is just offering an alternative that no rich or insured person is going to join and that will keep the HMO's interest aflot.

And that is the whole problem with Barack Obama, he always talks about "change" but is never very specific or bold. He talks very vaguely (like Reagan) and his campaign plan has nothing confrontational in it. When Hillary exposed her health care plan, Republicans jumped at her. Obama has not said anything that has generated political exitement. Think about it, there is nothing in his positions that is controversial. He is no agent of change.

f course, Clinton has been in the "establishment" for decades but that has allowed her to know how to work the system and to offer bold initiatives. Obama has no experience and he is offering nothing really different??!!! Except from his color, this man has nothing different than a  generic democratic candidate. If he was white, he would have finished last in Iowa and dropped out from the race.
