Slain suspects maybe fall guys?
Four of the six suspected robbers who allegedly killed nine employees of the Rizal Banking Commercial Corporation (RCBC) and a messenger of a depositor, were killed on what the police claimed as a legitimate encounter between the operatives and the suspects in Tanuan, Batangas recently.
Now, the close relatives of the victims said it wasn't a legitimate encounter but a 'rubout.'
My question is: How come the police were so swift in its dragnet operations against the four suspects? And again, the police already issued a statement that the remaining two are uniformed personnel. But nobody is certain if these are policemen or military who are awol or still active in the service.
It was preempted that two of the suspects are uniformed personnel. Was this based on a tip, knowing fully well that there was no witness available because the survivor had died while being treated in the hospital? I could only hope that these suspects are not fall guys, if only to solve the crime once and for all, with the real culprits still at large and now enjoying the P12 million loot with their masterminds. The loot is a big sum of money enough to attract even the interests of the law enforcers.
This is not to mention the P2 million bounty raised by the bank and the victims' families for the immediate arrest of the suspects. So anybody is at risk, if only to get a double whammy on the loot and the reward.
As the popular saying goes: "Haste makes waste." I just hope this will not happen to those who are directly involved in investigating the case.
