BJP alleged that J&K Government not serious to remedy the problems of Kashmiri Pandit migrants

Jammu, September 21(Vijay Kumar) - J&K BJP State spokesperson Ramesh Arora on Monday has alleged that the Jammu and Kashmir Government is not serious to redress the problems of Kashmiri Hindu migrants as the matter has not been resolved for the last 20 years.

Ramesh Arora while briefing the media persons in Jammu today said that the party also disagrees with the method adopted by formulating a Apex Committee for implementation of PM’s package. He said the committee does not have any representative character. We feel that all political parties and representatives of Kashmiri pandits should have been taken into confidence. After going through the committee, it appears that government has not considered all factors and concerned parties before formation of this Apex Committee.

Arora said a fixed time table for implementation of PM’s package should have been announced. He said the government has remained callous and casual over the issue and over implementation of PM’s package serious efforts are required in the larger interest and a situation where an atmosphere prevails for migrant’s return to valley.

Ramesh arora said more efforts are also required to build atmosphere for safe return and proper settlement of migrants and confidence building measures are required to be taken. Hence, Apex Committee should have the representative character and views of all should be given due weightage for solving complicated issue.

Meanwhile All Party Migrant Coordination Committee (APMCC) in a statement issued here the Chairman of the APMCC Vinod Pandit has said that it was for the first time in the last twenty years of Pandits forced exile that government has constituted a committee comprising of Pandit leaders adding the real test was that it should be a sincere step and not a mere formality that the government has been doing for the last twenty years.Pandit said that KPs have been befooled by the successive state and central governments repeatedly as the agreed agenda in such meetings or the Working groups has never seen the light of the day.

He said that the PMs Package was also hanging in balance while various promises made to KPs were still not implemented adding this was a golden opportunity for the government to create solid Confidence Building Measures (CBMs) and prove its credibility by addressing the real issue with an open mind rather than a bureaucratic exercise.

Clarifying the position of APMCC Vinod Pandit said that his organization has decided to participate in the meeting as it was only through a face to face dialogue that the real intentions of the government can be gauged adding his organization would not hesitate in withdrawing from the committee if it was found that government was not serious in solving the real problems of the Pandits.

He said that the issues of the employment, relief enhancement, temple bill, problems of traders, issue of over aged KP youth, encroachment of temple and shrine property, distress sale, autonomous development board and establishing the Shardha Peet University were the basic issues that need to be discussed with the government before deciding anything on the return.
