Bob Barr Gets Ron Paul List and Announces Presidential Run

Today former Republican Congressman Bob Barr officially announced his run for the 2008 presidency on the Libertarian ticket.  According to TechPresident.com, it appears Barr has access to Libertarian Ron Paul's mailing list of millions.  Paul has been running on the Republican ticket but it largely ignored by mainstream media and admitted the unlikeliness of success on March 6th.

Ron Paul's campaign has famously created an energetic grassroots movement and very effective online media presence. From his campaign website, Bob Barr appears poised to attempt the same.

Barr, 59, quit the Republican party two years ago after he felt they were failing to shrink government.  If he becomes the Libertarian candidate after a party vote on May 22nd, he is expected to threaten support for John McCain, the presumptive Republican candidate for US President.

Barr hired Ross Perot's former campaign manager and the Associated Press reports that at a news conference today he said "I've heard from Americans from all walks of life ... they want a choice."

Bob Barr 2008 already has 12 videos on his official YouTube page outlining his desire to shrink the role of government, reduce discretionary spending, withdraw troops from Iraq and more strongly enforce immigration laws.

I'm the author of that post on techPresident, and I just wanted to clarify that Barr did NOT acquire the Paul list. It's been clarified for me by Terra Eclipse, the technology consultants for both campaigns. My apologies for the confusion.
