Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich was arrested this morning by federal officials. He is charged with conspiring to grant the Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama in exchange for money. Other charges are related to allegations that he refused to provide financial assistance to the Chicago Tribune, which had run several editorial pieces that criticized Blagojevich. The Tribune has since filed for bankruptcy.
