Invistagiting Cops in Rizwanur Case died

The first Investigating Officer (GRP) and the key witness of Rizwanur case, Arindam Manna found dead at Mankundu Railway Station in Hooghly, some 25 km from Kolkata.  There are already allegation of a conspiracy and cover-up. Police reportedly conducted the post-mortem in a hurry at Serampore Walsh Hospital, treating it as an unclaimed body, Manna hadi his ID card on him. A second post - mortem will now be conducted in Kolkata on Thrusday on a magistrial order. Rizwan's family was greatly shocked at the death of 31 year old SI's mysterious death. Arindam Manna was the one who had handled teh probe soon after Rizwan's body was found in Patipukur on September 21, 2007. He was in the list of witnesses CBI had submitted, along with the chargesheet, to the Chief Metropolitian Magistrate.

After being taken aback, Calcutta High Court's lawyer Mr. Kalyan Banerjee said, " I wonder why they initially tried to dispose of Manna's body as unclaimed despite the identity card he was carrying".

The chief of State opposition rulling party Ms. Mamata Banerjee alleged that therfe was a conspiracy to eliminate key witness in the Rizwanur case.

Manna was very much worried for the last few days and had told his family members and some collegues repeatedly that he was 'Under Threat'.

The GRP spotted the body close to Mankundu sation, around 11.30 am. There were sever injuries on it. His right leg had been crushed 'as if hammered with someting very heavy', said the autopsy surgeon. There was a deep cut in the throat and his left eye had had popped out.

The mysterious deaths have uncanny similarities. Both bodies were found beside railway tracs, close to the stations. Like Rizwanur, Manna was disturbed for some time. His mother and sister - in - law could tell he was under pressure.

Their movements in the last hours are also shrouded in mystery (Manna had left his Dasnagar home two days ago, apparently to join duty in Dum Dum, but did not attend office). And their parting message - " I am leaving this world " - were the same.
