Kashmiri Pandits to organize a Joint demonstration on Holocaust Day

Jammu, January 11 (Scoop News) – The Joint Forum of Kashmiri Pandit organisations decided to organize a Joint demonstration on the occasion of Holocaust Day, the 19th of January at outside the Raj Bhawan Jammu.

A meeting was held today at Jammu. The meeting among others was attended by Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo, President, Panun Kashmir, H.L.Chatta, General Secretary, ASKPC, D.N.Kissu, Chairman, NCMCC, Virender Raina, Joint Forum Spokesperson, M.L.Sher, Subhash Chatta, Virender Kaul, B.L.Handoo, Vijay Qazi and Ashok Dhar.

The meeting made an earnest appeal to all KP organisations to join the demonstration on the said date and give a collective response to the present situation.

Speaking on the occasion Ashwani Kumar Chrungoo maintained that the government under a well thought out plan is trying to put the issue of displacement of the Kashmiri Pandit community under carpet. He said the design coupled with controversies being created regarding accession and national symbols has made the political atmosphere murkier. In such a situation, the responsible Kashmiri Pandit forums have a bounden duty to give a befitting response to the sinister motives of the vested interests. The Joint Forum appeals to the people to join hands and move ahead to achieve the goal.

H.L.Chatta in his speech said that the ‘late sympathies’ shown in favour of Kashmiri Pandits cannot change the facts of history. They are stark and visible. The issue of mass exodus of Kashmiri Pandits needs to be analysed so that we don’t commit mistakes in future. The resettlement of Kashmiri Pandit community in the valley is to be seen in the light of history and what happened to the community during the period of exile. It is only a political and constitutional dispensation which can address the issues of geo-political aspirations of the community to which we are all committed to.

D.N.Kissu said that the members of the displaced community have been facing apartheid even during their period of exile in various fields. The draconian conditions attached with the employment opportunities are one such example. Attempts have been made to twist the meaning and contours of PM’s employment package to the detriment of the displaced people. The Joint forum will continue to raise the issue at appropriate level without a fail.

Virender Raina said that we need to clear the mist being deliberately created regarding the accession of the state. Accession of Jammu and Kashmir has taken place in the same manner in which it took place in case of other princely ruled states of India in 1947. Article 370 of the Indian Constitution has proved to be the guiding mechanism of secessionism and terrorism in Kashmir . The demands like autonomy, self-rule etc are fundamentally the product of the politics of Muslim majoritarianism and precedence in the Jammu and Kashmir state. Kashmiri Pandits as the indigenous people of the Kashmir valley treat accession as full, final and irrevocable.
