Obama names Robert Gibbs WH Press Secretary
Robert Gibbs, a prominent spokesman for the Obama Presidential campaign, has been named White House Press Secretary for the new Administration of President-Elect Barack Obama.
Gibbs became well known during the campaign for his successful handling of confrontational interviews. Especially memorable was his appearance on Fox News where he took issue with Sean Hannity having a so-called anti-Semite on his show to attack Senator Obama. Gibbs handled this with aplomb, intelligence and humor.
Gibbs was also a very successful liaison with the press during the campaign, interacting with the media on Obama's campaign plane.
