Pakistan is not a failed state: Richard Holbrooke

Washington: The U.S special envoy for Afghanistan and Pakistan, Richard Holbrooke said that Pakistan is not a failed state and any delay in the approval of emergency aid to Pakistan would only benefit the enemies of United States.

The Chief Minister of N.W.F.P Amir Haider Khan Hoti, addressed the nation today and he appeared on a private news channel.

He requested the people to be united at this difficult hour because we will have to win this war that is being fought against the Taliban insurgents in Swat, Buner and Dir districts of the province.

My sympathies are with the families which have left their houses and now leading a life of refugees in their own country, he said.

The government is doing its best to provide them all the necessities of the life and he made an appeal to the people to come forth and help the IDPs.

On the other hand, the Director General of ISPR, Major General Athar Abbas was speaking to the media today.

He said some 751 Taliban insurgents have been killed so far in the military operation in Swat, Buner and Dir districts, along with 29 security men martyred and 77 injured in the operation Rah-e-Haq.

The images and videos of the dead militants from Swat and other areas will be released tomorrow, he added.
