Panthers legislators meet CM demands job for agitating unemployed youth

 Jammu, February 03 (Scoop News) – Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today said that the coalition government is committed to the all round development of Jammu & Kashmir and offering equal opportunities of development to all regions and sub-regions of the state.

Official statement  said that in an hour long meeting with the Panthers Party legislators Harshdev Singh, Balwant Mankotia, Yashpal Kundal and Syed Rafiq Shah who called on him here today, the Chief Minister gave a patient hearing to the demands of the Panthers legislators and assured them that their demands will be considered by the government and appropriate decisions will be taken in the larger interest of the state and its people.

            The Panthers Party leaders demanded immediate absorption of agitating unemployed youth particularly agriculture technocrats, physiotherapists, electropaths, ITI unemployed youths in consonance with the assurances held out to them from time to time by various governments.

            The Panthers Party legislators raised the issue of delimitation and demanded constitution of delimitation commission so as to rectify the imbalance in the allocation of assembly seats in the state. They demanded suitable amendment in the constitution for the purpose and equitable distribution of assembly seats among the three regions of the state.

            They also demanded that the Central University in Jammu should start its operation in this academic session and sought the review of the decision pertaining to the appointment of the Vice Chancellor. They said that in view of aspirations of the people of Jammu region a local Vice Chancellor be considered for appointment at the earliest. They demanded that in no case the forthcoming academic session be allowed to go waste and academic session be given a start with immediate effect.

            They further demanded enhancement of honorarium of the SPOs and VDC members and sought immediate settlement of the issues of RETs and education volunteers. They demanded fulfillment of all vacant positions in health and education department in which majority of the institutions are languishing due to chronic deficiency of staff. The NPP leaders further sought due and equitable share to the youth of all the regions of the state in professional institutions including medical and engineering.

            The NPP leaders also sought early commissioning of the Gandola project in Mubarak Mandi to Bahu Fort and Kud to Patnitop, construction of flyovers in Jammu city, facelift of city of temples and development of tourist resorts of Utterbani and Purmandal and lakes of Surinsar & Mansar.

            They urged upon the Chief Minister to intervene and ensure early release of package for development of the state in tandem with the recommendations of the Interlocutors and the Task Force constituted. The Panthers legislators also demanded the fast track of the relief work for the flood and drought effected people in the state.

            On the issue of the delimitation, the Chief Minister said that their demand in this regard will be discussed among the coalition partners. The Chief Minister further said that he is conscious of the deficiency of staff in the health and education sectors and the state government is working to fill the gaps in these important social sectors.

            Regarding the issue of agitating agriculture technocrats, physiotherapist, electropaths and ITI trained youths, the Chief Minister said that the government is favourably inclined to work out modalities for their engagement in the government despite the financial constraints the government is facing.
