Pervez Musharraf's NRO rejected by the highest court in Pakistan




Islamabad, Pakistan: After the detailed verdict of The Pakistan highest court against an illegitimate ordinance, (NRO) an executive order given by the former military dictator, Pervez Musharraf, on 5th Oct 2007, that has granted impunity to those officials and politicians who had corruption and other court cases against them.


The Supreme Court of Pakistan has rejected National Reconciliation Ordinance (NRO) and issued 287-page detailed rulling, penned by the Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhary and all the cases against these politicians and officials are reopened now.


The Supreme Court of Pakistan declared NRO, null and void and contrary to the constitution of Pakistan, according to sources.


The government of Pakistan has issued a list of 8041 persons who benefited from NRO, including 34 politicians.


The list includes President Asif Ali Zardari and the Pakistani ambassador to U.S Hussain Haqqani, furthermore, the top beneficiary of NRO is MQM's exile leader in UK, Altaf Hussain with 72 cases, inluding 31 murder cases.
