RSP decided not to quit Left Front

The Nandigram violence in November perpetrated by the CPI(M) stirred the conscience of Left Front PWD Minister, Kshiti Goswami. He wanted to resign but Jyoti Basu and other veteran Left leaders persuaded him to not to quit for the sake of left unity.
