Ted Kennedy Has Brain Tumor, Say Doctors
The political world was dealt a devastating blow today when doctors revealed that Senator Ted Kennedy has a brain tumor. Kennedy's recent seizure was caused by the brain tumor, discovered in testing after the seizure.
Earlier the Associated Press mentioned that the length of Senator Kennedy's stay and the types of testing he underwent were raising questions. It quoted a Washington neurologist as saying that, "CAT scans, MRIs, blood tests and an EEG brain-wave test would also be used to search for evidence of a stroke, brain tumor or abnormal brain activity such as a seizure."
Now it appears a malignant brain tumor was indeed the cause of Ted Kennedy's recent seizure. Democratic Massachusetts Senator Kennedy will undergo chemotherapy to treat the tumor.
Malignant glioma is a type of brain cancer. Those affected may survive from 5 years to less than a year after diagnosis.
