WHY GUNMEN SECURITY IS NOT BEING PROVIDED TO JUDGES?
We have in our country quite a good number of politicians with notorious criminal backgrounds after getting elected to the Parliament or State Legislatures or State councils and after appointed to Ministerial posts are being provided with the gunmen security under different categories and crores of rupees are being spent on their security for maintenance of gunmen with vehicles and arms, and on some occassions even after their retairment from the positions, under the guise of threat to their safty and security or for the sake of protecting their pride and prestige in the society, the previlage is beign extended to them even if it is really not required for them.
Even in the case of active politicians, on whom the government is spending lakhs of rupees by providing personal gunmen security, in fact there is no need for them to provide such security, because some politicians in this counrty know how to secure themselves by their henchmen and how to attack others. Because, the politicians will have no official enimity with any one but only personal enimity with their rival politicians or whom they have duped and for that sake they need protection. But where as the Judges usually will never have personal enimity with anyone in the society, except official enimity in discharge of their functions, as in the case of some sincere Police officers. After occupying the position as a Judge, he will be governed by considerably tough code of conduct, if compared to other officers in the Bureaucracy or politicians in power and he can not spontaneously act for his self-protection as in the case of the others by giving stiff resistence or by resorting to a counter-attack on the onslaughter to degrade his honor of position. Where as a politician even if he is not given security men for his protection, he can protect himself by resorting to counter-acctack on an onslaughter and enter into street brawl and can abuse him in filthy language and go to any extent in protecting himself, because for a politician any where in the world morals or code of conduct are least bothered words. So, the need for providing personal security men is more exigent for the Judges, compared to politicians.
But, unfortunately for the Law adjudicators in the country, except for the Chief-Justices of Supreme Court and High Courts, the remaining High Court Judges or the District Judges are not provided with anykind of gunmen security, inspite of their highly sensitive positions and discharge of functions. The Judges while adjudicating criminal or other disputes generally face the apathy, criticism, or even attacks from the otherside party against whom the judgement/order has been passed. There were several occassions across the country that judges were attacked after pronouncements of Judgements, especially the Trial Judges in criminal cases. But such instances were never viewed seriously by the governments at any time, and no personal security was provided for Judges.
As in the case of common man, after a Judge has been attacked then police will enter into scene, who in turn registers a case against the culprits, meanwhile the Judge who for having discharged his official function has to undergo the sufferings as a result of the attack. The culprits dare to attack the judges because they known that Judges are not encompassed with any security men, so their task would become easy to attack and injure the judges. But, if personal gunmen are always placed beside the judge in the Court Hall or even outside when s/he is travelling, with wide discretionary power to take immediate action against the acttackers, then the Honor of the Judges will be protected, and Judges morale will be boosted for having personal security around, so they do not undergo psychological trauma or fear while delivering a harsh and unbiased judgement in the court hall or else where, after passing an order or Judgement against hardcore criminals.
