EliteXC is making its second appearance on primetime network TV on October 4, 2008. The event will showcase both men and women mixed martial artist. This is the only MMA organization that has made its way to network TV. CBS and EliteXC are hoping to have the same rating success the previously had.
Feature Bouts
Kimbo Slice vs Ken Shamrock
Kimbo Slice (3-0) will be making his second apperence on CBS following his conversational last win versus James Thompson. Kimbo is know for his heavy hands and being tough but has not shown much else. He was on his way to a decision lose during his fight until he hit the cauliflower ear of Thompson causing a doctor stoppage. Shamrock will represent a huge step up if he can manage to beat the MMA legend that is Ken Shamrock. Ken Shamrock (26-12-2) is 44 years old and is consider to be one of the best of his time. Shamrock is a submission specialist who had been around for a very long time. Ken has beaten a who’s who list in the MMA world I would love to beat Kimbo. However, like all the other Kimbo fights this is another setup fight to help build Kimbo care by having him fight opponent that are well past there prime. Shamrock has last his last 5 fight via strikes in the 1st round this most likely will be no different. I will going to take Kimbo to pull a first round TKO but will be pulling for Shamrock to have the upset.
Jake Shields vs. Paul Daley
Jake Shields (21-4-1) is the current Middleweight champion and is on a 10 fight winning streak going back to 2005. Jake is a great wrestling abilities pair with good submission skills. Of his 21 win 10 have been by decision and 8 by submission. His next match will be against Paul Daley. Paul Daley (17-6-2) is currently the cage rage welterweight champion and is looking to add another belt. Daley is a kick boxer with devastating striking abilities. This is the classic grappler versus striker match and will come down to who can impose their will. I give this to Jake by decision.
Gina Cerano vs. Kelly Kobald
Gina Cerano (6-0) is making her second appearance in CBS and is hoping to have the same success as last time. Cerano has some of the best Mauy Thai in women’s MMA and now training with team Couture is only improving her ground game. Kelly Kohald has a (16-2-1) has been training since 2001 and has a well round game in both stand up and submission. This like Gina last fight could be the most exciting of the night. This one is going to be tough to call I will go with a TKO by Gina, however this could go either way.
Other Fights
Murilo Rua (16-8-10) vs. Benji Radach (13-3)
Cristiane Justino (5-0) vs Yoko Takahashi (1-1)
