Golden Boy vs Pacman Fight: The Other Version of WWE Scripted Sport Show

The two boxing icons in Oscar de la Hoya and Manny Pacquiao are doing well in their promotional tour for the duo’s upcoming sold-out fight in December 2008. The keenly-awaited fight of the year seemed to be entertaining (?) than usual. Oscar and Manny are not only boxing superstars but promising actors in a tinseltown-like boxing match where promotional gimmick is part of luring would be viewers in their action-packed TV (series?).

The promo tour is complete with scripted punch-lines from both leading actors err boxers. The fool-not proof audience loves the two superstars. The duo brings more fun, excitement and hype to their fans and followers every time they stand in front of them. Joining the boxers are Bob Arum the promoter and Freddie Roach the trainer and others.

The cast is complete making the boxing show perfect for the money makers. Indeed the fight in December already has losers and winners. The losers are those who love the sport of boxing and the integrity of the sport itself. The big winners are Pacman, the Golden Boy, Bob Arum et al. The gang will be accumulating millions of dollars in revenue, making the scripted boxing match a blockbuster perfect for Emmy Awards.

Clearly, today’s boxing is no longer about the sport but it’s all about the MONEY. The popular the fighter, the better the MONEY prize at stake. The December 06 fight-though popular-will make change the boxing world into a mere entertainment version of WWE scripted sport show. Better watch the UFC, the real combat sport that end in real victory.
