PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES @ ST. LOUIS CARDINALS

Roy Oswalt started for the Phillies but was gone after two

innings. He allowed four runs on five hits and seemed to

have back problems when he finished the second inning.
Kyle Kendrick came in to relieve Oswalt in the third. Kyle

gave up two runs and Danny Baez who pitched the eighth

gave up another six runs. Oswalt gets the loss and is now

 4-6 this season.

Chris Carpenter took the mound to start for St. Louis.

 Carpenter was 1-7 to start the night. Carpenter did not

pitch like his record indicated but like the Chris of old. It

was not until the sixth inning that the Phillies got on the

board with one run. Carpenter gets the 12-2 win pitching

seven strong innings allowing one run on five hits, walking

one with seven K's.

The Cardinals scored twelve runs on fourteen hits with five

walks. Jon Jay (5) and  Lance Berkman (18) homered

for the Cards, and the team also had four doubles.

St. Louis goes to 41-35 with the win. The Phillies are 47-29

and finish their road trip 3-3. The Phillies are home on Friday

to take on Oakland.
