OAKLAND ATHLETICS @ PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES

Cole Hamels was going for his tenth win for the second time and again is denied and instead gets his second loss in a row. Cole is stuck at nine wins and now has four losses on the year. Even though he lost Cole did extend his streak of not allowing more than two earned runs in six games.

Oakland evened the series at 1-1 and Trevor Cahill pitched a gem for 7.2innings. Cahill allowed just three hits, one run, walked three and had six K's.

The night partly belonged to Andrew Bailey who pitched for Oakland and got save number five. Bailey was raised in South Jersey and like most of us here in South Jersey he was a Philly fan to the max. So tonight he had a chance to go against his favorite team and shut them down. He did just that with his parents and wife in the stands.

So as a Philly fan I know we have to lose  every once and awhile and this loss does not sting as bad with Bailey on the mound.
 

Oakland had ten hits against the Phils with Jemile Weeks going three for five and Adam Rosales connected for his second homer of the year.
 

The Phillies offense failed to show and had four hits, scoring just one run. As Charlie Manuel said it was good pitching but at the same time the Phillies have to score runs. It was a little bit of both.
 

Philadelphia reached the thirty loss mark and are now 48-30. Oakland goes to 35-43 and will face the Phillies on Sunday for the third and final game of  the series.
