Carpenter to Triple-A and in so doing they also made room for their new All-Star right fielder Hunter Pence.
All that set the stage for their second game against Pittsburgh.
Cliff Lee on the mound, Polanco back at third and Hunter Pence playing his first game as a Philadelphia Philly in right field. All the other starters were in place too and as a team, they beat the Pirates 7-4.
Lee pitched 7.2 innings allowing four runs on eight hits walking two with eleven K'S. Cliff got his tenth win and is now 10-7 this season. Ryan Madson pitched a perfect- perfect ninth, striking out the side for his eighteenth save.
The Phillies offense had Lee's back all night, they scored seven runs on sixteen hits. Raul Ibanez was the only player not to have at least one hit. Everyone else including Cliff Lee was in on the hitting barrage.

Pittsburgh starter James McDonald (7-5) went five innings giving up five runs on ten hits, walked two and had five K's. McDonald gets the loss.
