PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES @ SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS

Game two Phillies at the Giants and Vance Worley took the mound for the Phillies, Jonathan Sanchez started for the Giants. Sanchez lasted 4.2 innings and was lifted after allowing five runs on seven hits walking two with four K's. Ramon Ramirez came in and allowed three more runs on four hits in one inning of work. He  did not leave quietly, as the last batter he faced, Shane Victorino, he nailed with a pitch that was by all appearances intentional. Both benches emptied and when the smoke cleared players were ejected and line-ups rearranged. Sanchez (4-6) gets the loss.
 

On the Phillies side Vance Worley went seven strong innings allowing just two runs on seven hits, walking one with six K's. Michael Stutes pitched the eighth giving up one  hit. The ninth belonged to David Herndon who also allowed just one hit.  Vance was again looking good and his record is looking even better at 8-1 with the 9-2 win.

The Phillies backed up Worley with plenty of run support. They scored nine runs on thirteen hits. Hunter Pence, Shane Victorino and John Mayberry Jr. all homered for the Phillies.
The results of the fight are not fully known. Phillies Shane Victorino was ejected as were Ramon Ramirez and Eli Whiteside for the Giants. Fines and possibly a suspension will surely follow.

The Phillies have two more games with the Giants and have won the first two. This was win number eight in a row for the Phillies who now have a record of 73-39. The Giants are now 62-51.
 

Phillies Cole Hamels and Giants Matt Cain are scheduled for game three on Saturday.
