SUNDAY QUICK HITS
PHILADELPHIA PHILLIES @ SAN FRANCISCO GIANTS
Philadelphia was looking for their tenth consecutive win and a sweep of the Giants in their four game series. Tim Lincecum was having none of it and got the win for the Giants 3-1.
He pitched a good game, Lincecum (10-9) went 7.2 innings allowing one run on seven hits, walked one and had five K's. Good enough for the win and helps the Giants avoid the sweep.
Roy Oswalt made his first start since 23 June and although he gave up his season high twelve hits he felt good being back. Only two of the hits went for extra bases both doubles. Roy went six innings giving up three runs on twelve hits walking two with four K's in the loss and is now 4-7 this season.
The Phillies managed eight total hits, with Carlos Ruiz and Chase Utley each getting two. Chase had the Phillies lone RBI.
Jeff Keppinger went four for four with one RBI for the Giants. Chris Stewart was two for four with one RBI and Orlando Cabrera collected one RBI going one for three.
The Phillies win the series taking three of four from the Giants. Philadelphia will finish their road trip with three games in L.A. starting Monday and they will end their twenty games without a day off run. They are 13-4 going into their final three game set with L.A. and they have the best record in the majors at 74-40. The Giants are 63-52.
Roy Halladay (14-4) will pitch on Monday's opener in L.A. for the Phillies and Roy will be going for his fourth straight win in four starts.
