The Phillies were facing their first five game losing streak of the season going into tonights game against the Nationals. Vance Worley got the call for the Phillies and John Lannan the start for Washington.
Again the teams exchanged runs in the same inning, two in the second. Wilson Ramos had a two run shot in the top of the second

The Phillies had eight hits going into the fourth inning. They were leaving too many men on base. In the sixth the Phillies paid, as Danny Espinosa hit a two run shot off of Worley to put the Nationals ahead 4-3.
Worley lasted six innings and Joe Blanton relieved him in the seventh. Vance gave up four runs on six hits, walked three and recorded six K's.
The Nationals scored three more runs in the eighth inning to take the score to 7-3. The top of the Phillies batting order were hitless through the eighth inning. Rollins, Victorino, Polanco and Utley were zero for fourteen.
John Mayberry Jr. had a two run homer in the bottom of the eighth making the score 7-5. That is as close as the Phillies would get. The final 7-5, a five game losing streak, the first this season.
Winning pitcher is John Lannan now 10-13. The losing pitcher for
the Phillies is Lance Worley 11-3.
