Sri Lankan Team safely arrived Colombo after attacks in Pakistan
Sri Lankan cricket
team was attacked by heavily armed gunman in Lahore,Pakistan on Tuesday.This was a very Shocking news for all Cricket and Peace lovers.After this attack Srilakan Cricket team now safely reached Colombo in the early hours of Wednesday morning.
The team escaped near death after these gunmen ambushed Sri Lanka's national cricket team as it arrived for the third day of the test match at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
In this attack Six police officers and a driver were killed and this attack lasted for nearly15 minutes.
Those who have been injured are Ajantha Mendis, Tharanga Paranavitana, Thilan Samaraweera, Kumar Sangakkara and Mahela Jayawardene and team coach Paul Farbrace.
As soon the Authorities cancelled the test match against Pakistan and a special flight carried the Sri Lanka team back to home including Thilan Samaraweera and Tharanga Paranavitana who had been hospitalised with bullet wounds .One of the players was taken from the airport to a hospital in Colombo.
Srilankan Captaiv ,Jayawardene told the media, "I mean I'm just very happy that I could see the family and come back to Sri Lanka in one piece and that every breath I take I am pretty glad that I can take it without a problem. I mean you just think about life and everything is in front of you, in a moment just flashing across when you go through an incident like this. None of us, if you speak to any of us the whole (team) members, honestly would have said to you that they never thought that they would come alive out of that situation. And we are very lucky that no one came across any serious injuries, life threatening, and that everyone is in good shape. There are a few guys that need a bit more time to recover and that we can hopefully put this behind us a move forward."
The test series against Sri Lanka was the first test series to be held in Pakistan for 14 months.
And now, as an aftermath of the Lahore attacks, the International Cricket Council said it would review Pakistan's status as co-host of the 2011 World Cup.
