Thiago da Silva, Brazilian Footballer, Shot Dead

Thiago da Silva, a Bazilian football (soccer) player, has died from gunshot wounds he received on September 18. He once played for the club Vasco da Gama and was a member of the Estadio de Soccer Club at the time of his death.

Three people have been arrested in connection with the shooting of Thiago da Silva. Silva's ex-girlfriend Alyne Padula Viana, her aunt Marcia Padula Viana and Marcia Padula Viana's companion Alexandra de Freitas da Silva were all arrested. 

Thiago da Silva was just 25 when he was pronounced dead on Wednesday at a Rio de Janeiro hospital. He was a member of Brazil's football team at the 2008 Beijing Olympics which won the bronze medal.
