Best Friend Dognapped in Dixie, Washington 8-10-08. Animal Alert Debut

August 13, 2008 It’s been about 55 hours since my buddy was Dog Napped. He was taken from the school next door (or vicinity) on Sunday August 10th, 2008. He was napped between 7 am and 1:30 PM when we noticed him missing. I am pretty sure I saw him around noon Sunday when the church bells rang two blocks away. He was lying in the shade near my motor home. I also know that a white GMC vehicle with tinted glass was at the school directly next door about the time he went 'unnoticed'.
The back drive to the schoolyard is not private and borders our property and driveway. His favorite place to sit was near the edge of our property when there were kids at the school. This is where I believe he was abducted. I can not prove this though.
Our girls were at their grandmother’s Sunday, so he was sitting by the school most likely if there were children there. He always waited there for school to end, knowing he could not leave the yard. Our other pets are here, and he would have had to be coached away from that location. Since the girls were gone he may have been waiting there for them to return. He never followed.
I only know that the police don’t really make this kind of thing a priority. I feel as if someone blasted a hole in my heart. My daughter and I are suffering a sadness that won’t go away. We plastered the area with a missing posters and have been pounding doors. We can’t sleep. It makes us feel ill.
Taking someone’s pet should be a criminal offense. Often, stupid people find an animal that is in it’s own territory and try to relocate it for some stupid reason. Animals usually can find their way back home, and thinking it is lost is ignorant. Some one may have thought they were doing the right thing, but he has not showed up at the humane society. I wish he had not been taken at all.Theft of an animal is just down right evil and God-less.
He is a beautiful charcoal grey Shitzu that looks like Chewbacca from Star Wars. He has his lower teeth over-biting his upper teeth. His hair is long. He will answer "no" by shaking his head if he doesn’t need to go out. He will come to ‘Chewy’.
My family is devastated and I feel that there need to be alert systems through all cities that can make the public aware of missing dogs. Local newspapers could be the avenues. Radio stations could run segments dedicated to owners and their missing pets. More needs to be done, because I feel as if I have lost a child. This is horrible. I hope the person or persons that took my dog realize how much pain that they have caused. There should be laws that make it a crime to take in a stray or supposed stray pet without calling an animal control officer first. It would save a lot of pain.

Was taken approximately around when church was under way or just ending. Some one may have thought he was a stray.
