SAGINAW TOWNSHIP, Michigan (GroundReport) - Although brides-to-be often pick best friends to serve as their maids or matrons of honor, Erica Schultz has selected her 92-year-old grandmother to fill the role on her special day.
Angelene Schultz will stand beside her granddaughter when the 26-year-old weds Mark James on Oct. 18 in Bay City.
"She is my best friend," said Erica, who owns a Web design business with her fiance in an Associated Press report.
She added, "When my grandpa died, she bought a house down the street from our family. We both needed someone."
