California College San Diego Launches Program to Assist Prospective Students in Earning GED

California College San Diego announced today the launch of its complimentary GED Test tutoring program. The tutoring program is offered at no cost and is designed to help bring enrollees without a diploma a step closer to their dream jobs, by helping them earn the GED credential required to start college.

A GED Academy article shows that 39 million Americans do not have a high school diploma.1 Additionally, U.S. Census Bureau data shows that unemployment rates are tied directly to levels of educational attainment, and more than 15 percent of people without a high school diploma are unemployed.2

California College San Diego GED Test tutoring will provide many benefits, including:

  • Knowledgeable instructors
  • Flexible tutoring hours
  • Individual attention
  • Complimentary study tools
  • Motivational support system
  • Targeted practice exams
  • GED Test registration assistance

As an additional benefit, when students are ready to take the GED Test, California College San Diego will cover the cost of their test fee.

The program was launched in 2009 at the Stevens-Henager Provo/Orem campus in Utah, an affiliate of California College San Diego. Due to the popularity of the program, all California College San Diego–affiliated campuses in Arizona (CollegeAmerica Flagstaff-main and Phoenix-branch), Colorado (CollegeAmerica Denver-main, Colorado Springs-branch, and Fort Collins-branch), Idaho (Stevens-Henager College Idaho Falls-branch*, Utah (Stevens-Henager College Ogden/West Haven-main, Logan-branch, Salt Lake City/Murray-branch, St. George-branch, Layton-satellite of Ogden/West Haven and Lehi-satellite of Provo/Orem), and Wyoming (CollegeAmerica Cheyenne-branch) will offer the GED Test program.

“The goal of the GED Test Tutoring program is to make taking the next step toward a better career more accessible to all community members,” said Ken Webb, campus director at California College San Diego. “While earning a GED diploma can not guarantee employment, it can be the critical first step to gaining the real-world knowledge and skills necessary for a career in today’s marketplace.”

Students can be tutored in all the GED Test areas, including English, Social Studies, Science, and Math. For more information, visit www.GEDTutoring.org. The GED Test program is a community service and is not an accredited program.
