Kollywood Movie 'Kuruvi' Fails to Soar
Many a times in the movie-world, the hype created by a film prior to its release, is not matched with the expectation of audience and this is true irrespective of the popularity of the hero or leading caste of the movie otherwise. The just released Kollowood movie 'Kuruvi' released under the banner of Grandson of Tamilnadu Chief MInister, Dr. Karunanidhi in whihc the lead roles are done by none other than Vijay and Trisha falls into this category.
Kuruvi is the Tamil term for 'sparrow' but the colloqial meaning of this is a person who acts as a courier handling in contraband goods. The term applies to one who regularly travels abraod to fetch in contraband goods from a foreign country to sell it for profits at the native country. In Tamil Nadu, 'Burma Bazaar' has been the venue for such activiies. Of course in the context of the movie, Vijay does this role as a 'fix-it-guy' who can casually do with aplomb the work of a plumber and also that of ace-car racer.
He takes to the role of 'kuruvi' to settle score with the bad guy villain who had cheated his father and flies to Malaysia. As the formula goes, he not only meets thevillain to get justice but also meets his sister, the pretty 'Trisha' who is forcibly engaged to another bad guy, the brother of partner of the villain. Of course, both of them are hand in hand in committing crimes.
To accomplish his objective and to justify the term 'Kuruvi', the hero flys back to India with a priceless diamond and travles to a dusty place in Karnataka to rescue his father and other workers kept as slaves in a quarry mine.
In order to carry out his mission, he has to engage himslef in stunts and dances and in the process, it is not his fault if he forgets to act. As a result, when the 'Kuruvi' does not even fly, how can youexpect it to soar?
A total disappointment for the movie-goers.
